Internet Explorer: The Fall of a Giant
I was looking at the visitor statistics for this site in Awstats yesterday when I noticed this…

Note: August 2006 results taken on 20/08/2006.
As you can see from the above rudimentary table that took all of 10 seconds to create in Microsoft Excel, Firefox-ko is now kicking IE’s sorry butt! At least amongst anime fans, whom I presume to be the largest demographic represented by this chart.
At the rate it’s going, we might just see a complete reverse of the July 2004 statistics in about two years.
EDIT: The aliens prefer Firefox too.

Ever since my site started, it has always been getting 50% firefox, 35% IE and the rest others.
I never use IE and it’s really irritating when I have to.

I wish I could completely uninstall IE. But there are a number of korean/japanese mmorpg site that only support registration via IE. Totally stupid.

It’s not quite possible to uninstall IE because IE is not just a browser, it’s the basic foundation of all net functionality in Windows. Uninstalling IE will probably kill off most MS Office applications and things like Windows Media Player.

That’s because the most recent microsoft update, fucked up Internet Explorer and all it does is cause it to crash every freaking time.
Hell even I now use Netscape, which has an option to display like IE or like Firefox…needless to say when displaying like IE it continues to crash but when displaying like firefox all is right with the world :D

well the thing is that i kinda refuse to use internet explorer due to the various bugs associated with it and the user-friendly interface of firefox simply cliches the top prize for me.
In fact, this is also true for my own site, where firefox edges out IE at least. The other browsers are in little use as yours. Interesting observation.

Though I personally use Firefox for most purposes, Internet Explorer really isn’t all that bad. IE has a few more standards-compliance issues and crashes occasionally, but Firefox has some rather severe memory-leak problems that haven’t been fixed as of 2.0b1. I will echo the sentiment that actually uninstalling IE is probably a bad idea. If you don’t like it, don’t use it, but it rather seriously infests Windows installations.

I recently heard that the Firefox “memory leak” is actually deliberate. Firefox reserves extra memory to make the tabs feature run smoother. Most people have tons of memory so it’s not really a problem.

I’m running Firefox under Linux myself, fixed all of my IE/WGA/Microsoft probelms.
@Tsubaki: Just change your useragent with https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/59/

Sad to see so many users running away from the clearly superior IE due to security concerns.

Tabbed browsing is probably one of the big reason I switched to Firefox (16 tabs at once, on 2 windows). Been using FF since 0.9. Hasn’t failed me since then. Switching back and forth between Opera and FF, but I personally preferred FF.

I may be am among the minority of your web visitors who use Opera, not IE or Firefox. Still, it’s probably a sort of swift overtaking of Firefox users over those who use IE.
You may also be looking out at Japanese visitors who are avid readers of your blog.
Oh, and also I don’t see the projection of Opera users go higher. Only close to the percentage of Firefox users.
Hmm…

I used to use both, IE and Firefox, but IE crashed too much, and FF began annoying me after awhile. I now use Opera, using IE only when strictly necessary. I’ve deleted everything concerning Firefox from both of my machines.
