A look into an otaku’s room
As some people might know, I just moved house a few days ago. I finally finished unpacking today and I decided to take some pictures.
The entrance to doom and horror
Warning: Pictures may be extremely disturbing to the uninitiated.
Turn right (although no one in the right mind would do that since you’d be facing the wall) after stepping through the door and you’ll see two large Evangelion posters that identify me as a level 12 Eva fanboy. Mana is hawt. That’s a not-for-sale promotional poster for the PS1 version of Girlfriend of Steel. I found it at Mandarake Shibuya for ¥200. Yay.
Right across the door is where I spend 90% of my waking hours, excluding school.
Generally I do my stuff on the main monitor. The secondary monitor is mostly for IRC, Winamp and some misc. widgets.
The rig below is a Pentium 3 with a dead HDD. I was using it to run Linux, but it’s dead now. At least until I move a HDD over.
A Coolmaster case. It’s so cool that the PVC figures above it have not melted yet. In fact, it’s so cool that there’s a penguin sitting on it.
Louise stands above my Creative subwoofer.
Behind is the promotional poster for Maaya Sakamoto’s “Kazemachi JET” single. I have the one for Yunagi LOOP too, but it was damaged when I took it down during the packing. I failed as a Maaya fanboy. orz
I have no idea why the penguin is there. It just is.
My wallet’s coin compartment has a huge hole, so I took out all my coins. That’s a Mahora school crest on the keychain.
When she’s not on a holiday, Saber sits on my desk. Gao.
Behind Saber is a wallscroll of Tama-nee. It’s a promotional item from Messe Sanoh that came with the limited edition copy of ToHeart2 XRATED. I bought it from Lashinbang in Ikebukuro for ¥2,000.
And now we come to the interesting part…the shelves…
The storage area belong Kasumi is where I dump everything that can’t be displayed. I should invest more in displayable stuff, like posters.
I seem to be missing some books. Oh well. Maybe they got lost in one of the bajillion boxes during the move. Hopefully they’ll turn up one day…
My “study” desk. Do you see any studying materials around? I think not.
My laptop. It’s trying and failing to boot Linux off a Live CD. Sigh…
My phone charging. HARUHIISM FOREVER!!!
My HP printer and, uh, some CDs… Okay this is getting lame. Let’s wrap up with some shots of the posters and pencil boards that are haphazardly pasted all over the place.
Setsuna-chan!!! Too bad the game sucked
This phone card costs more than any single poster
A brave issue of Megami gave up its life
Pretty bad picture due to the poor lighting (that or I just suck)
And finally…
Everyone knows that I have a thing against displaying posters with folds, but Feena is an exception. :3
BTW my room is defended by a USB missile launcher. So don’t even think about it!

I took a look at your laptop. Try forcing acpi=off when booting. And be sure to use a new kernel. And yeah, cool room :P

Now it boots, but I can’t get my integraded WLAN working. Sigh…

I was thinking, “This room would be perfect for my girlfriend, sans the posters/figurines.” I hope you aren’t gar. I have seen enough gars in my real-life lifetime.
BTW, what distro are you using to boot the LiveCD? I want to find out more.
As for the handphone, it looked similar to my 902SH Vodafone, except that mine’s black. Please confirm, over.

Are you still in Singapore? That room no longer has a characteristic of a singaporean room, except for the fact the interiors are bright. I wonder who funds your crazy collection though. I pray that you won`t become a hikikomori like me.

I remembered I had sold off some of the bedroom set units in the past.
Pretty nick and spacious when the parents buy the unit set for their children. :)
Take off the 3′ single bed, which is always noisy if u r too ‘demanding’ using the bed while not long enough for those over 170cm, it makes a nice wall shelve set. Better still, have the ‘leather’ bed head remove it shall be better!
Strongly ‘apalling’ by the choice of the bedroom set colour. Wasn’t the set have a deep blue colour for choice?
Anyway, I like your PC table, I would get one myself in future.
Does your table setup have any PC heat ventilation problem?
With door close, air-con down, will u sweat to flood and cpu hot as volcano?

[...] Shiok’s house is neat and tidy. He’s got space to display his stuff. And the younger ones like Tsubaki and Dark Mirage have also straightened out their caves. That gave me enough motivation to get my room sorted out for the new year. I need to create space for further expansion (of my collection). So I decided to clean out the cabinet above my wardrobe. That’s where I kept the boxes and cases of candy toys/trading figures. [...]

Man, you must be rich. PS-Awesome posters, but how did you manage to get that “bunnies” poster out of the Megami Magazine and eliminate the creases.

shit, i hate living in this shitty country (Norway), it’s nearly impossible to get any good (or new) wallscrolls/posters/anime merchandise in general. I envy you, you bitch. :/

illusion, norway is ranked #1 in human development index and like GDP per capita…etc. Don’t you dare call it shitty. Imagine living in say africa for example.. then u can say something like that.
Oh and nice room btw, the aqua green furniture totally ruins it in my opinion but you probably wont be changing it anytime soon (otakus dont give a damn about furniture)

Seems like everyone is a Feena Fam Earthlight fan. I have the dakimakura cover. DM, if you’re wondering where to get one, you should order Dengeki G Magazine Vol. 6. It covers alot of content on Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na.
PS do people in Singapore speak English?
