Rosario + Vampire anime!
I would like to introduce you to Rosario + Vampire, a very enjoyable manga series which seems to fall under the radars of most people for some reason. It’s about a guy called Tsukune Aono who accidentally enrols in a school for monsters and demons and end up with a harem of supernatural beings. The heroine is Moka Akashiya, a vampire, who falls in love with Tsukune(’s blood) at first sight. Then there’s the succubus, the witch girls and the ice girl.
Anyway, the latest issue of Shounen Jump comes with an announcement that Rosario will be made into an anime series soon! There was a drama CD that was released some time ago so I guess this doesn’t really comes as a surprised. Now assuming the cast remains the same (which is highly likely), this is what it should be:
Tsukune Aono: Daisuke Kishio
Moka Akashiya: Nana Mizuki
Kurumu Kuruno: Misato Fukuen
Yukari Sendou: Kimiko Koyama
Mizore Shirayuki: Rie Kugimiya
Shizuka Nekonome: Kikuko Inoue
Gin’ei Morioka: Tomokazu Seki
The manga is at around volume 9 now, I think. The story gets really…emo towards the later parts, but the plot is pretty interesting and surprisingly it doesn’t revolve around Tsukune’s harem. If nothing goes wrong, the anime should be worth a try.

LOL This is a new hybrid concept. Supernatural + romantic comedy. Hope they get the casting right.

OMG, NANA MIZUKI as a main female character no less! That’s awesome.
I’m expecting her to sing the OP or the ED then, lol.

Well, it’s pretty standard fair. The usual “vampires, zombies, monster surrounding one human” concept. At least the art is nice and the girls are cute.
Sometimes I wonder whether the mangaka is deciding between censorship or outright fanservice. Half of the time, you see clothes getting torn-up, revealing the undies underneath. Yet at other times, when the female lead is doing very stretchy taekwondo kicks in her very short seifuku skirt, you see nothing but very black pencil shadings instead of the ermm usual fanservice u’d expect. Weird.
Decent plot, gets better at volume 6-7 onwards.

man, when i first heard about this news on monday, i squealed like a girl. i’ve been reading and collecting the mangas for two years now and was wondering/hoping just when an anime would be converted. yesh released form moka yesh

That sounds like a series I might enjoy. I’m a big fan of supernatural characters, especially vampires (female vampires that is).

Well, be nice to see more of this kind of genre. Not enough series for this kind of genre, so new series would be nice, i guess.

It’s quite similar to Kaibutsu Oujo (Monster Princess). Not many like it, but I do.

I can only recognise nana mizuki and rie kugimya, not sure about the others.
BTW, about the TH2 another days release, is it actually available yet? what does “2007年発売予定” mean?
