Gundam 00 — Episode 7

This whole episode was bullshit. HD bullshit with pretty beam weapons and better animation than episode 6, but still bullshit. Anyway, the final line by Amuro Ray the narrator did manage to catch my attention for about five seconds. Which is amazing because the line doesn’t even last that long.

Gundam 00
「刹那、運命の人と出会う。」

Gundam 00
“Setsuna meets the person of his destiny.”

Oh Amuro, how you have fallen… But that aside.

Marina is finally going to do something beyond her current sad-girl-in-snow-desert role! Oh wow! Shokku desu! Also, Setsuna looks like he’s about to plant a knife into her abdomen.

Okay, you got me. I am just lazy to make a full post on an episode that’s pretty much one part well-budgeted fighting scenes and one part teenage angst. Also, it’s 3:50am in the morning and I need to get some sleep.

P.S. Season 2 of G00 is confirmed for October 2008, leaving the half-year slot from April free for a still-unconfirmed Code Geass season 2.

Setsuna finally meets his princess? LOL.

Lazy to download because I been playing Call Of Duty 4. xD

  2. Beowulf Lee says:

I don’t understand this coupling. Setsuna is 16. Marina is 24. I mean, I sure don’t mind an older fuck buddy but in my Gundam anime?? OK, I’m going to have to watch the episode first.

  3. bigdeath says:

Theres nothing wrong with an older fuck buddy.

  4. Dazzer says:

    2nded

Will watch it when its done… just to see how bad it is. :D

  5. Gravmech says:

Marina could get thrown in jail for corrupting a minor, but how much of Setsuna could she possibly “defile” with her desert-princess charm?

  6. bigdeath says:

    Gravmech:

Does that mean we will get a chance to see dominatrix Marina?

  7. darkdestiny says:

This review is a bit short and centralized to one certain topic. There’s still the sense of bias.

Anyway, look forward to see the episode.

  8. darkdestiny says:

Anyway I haven’t really seen Code Geass yet, so maybe I’ll look it up sometime.

  9. bigdeath says:

I’m darkdestiny, can you sense sarcasm and jokes? This wasn’t a review of the eppy. If you had watched the RAW you would know that the pic was from the preview of the next eppy. Darkmirage even wrote that this was a joke because he was too tired to write a full review. Come on, can’t you take a joke. I’m sure we’ll get a proper review soon.

  10. DarkMirage says:

darkdestiny, I’m frankly sick of your nonsense.

You come to my personal blog asking for objectivity? I can’t state my opinions on my own blog now? Obviously it’s bias! What the hell is wrong with you?

I have never seen a single comment from you that offers any intelligible insight or coherent argument. I seriously question the intrinsic value of your comments thus far. “This review is a bit short”? No shit Mr. Sherlock Holmes!

Also, no, there will not be a review for this episode. It can be summed up as:

    1. Gundams pwned Moralia thoroughly.
    2. Teenage angst.
    3. Terrorists attack civilians and blackmail Celestial Being.
    4. ?????
    5. Profit! (for Sunrise)

    So there.

  11. Gravmech says:

    @Bigdeath

I don’t think Marina has the personality for that but her assistant however…

  12. tj han says:

NO, GUNDAM IS SERIOUS BUSINESS AND MUST BE TREATED AS SUCH. HOW DARE YOU NOT PERFORM THE SACRED TASK OF REVIEWING IT WITH 1000PERCENT SERIOUS? is what Darkdestiny says, translated from trollspeak.

Anyway, Marina is quite a nice lady. But G00 is good in that 16 year olds actually look like kids. Most anime 16 year olds are rather mature looking (guys, not the girls). Setsuna looks like a kid, which is how 16 year olds look like. Compare that with Bleach, whose 16 year old looks 25.

  13. Ryuko_Hikaru says:

Calm down DM, not worth picking a fight over puritans. But I think you are right, I could still very much understand the episode despite not knowing any Japanese, which means that this episode could be considered as a HD filler.

But I think Setsuna looks really emo in that picture.

    @ Beowulf : Older f*** buddy. ROFL.

  14. DarkMirage says:

Marina is quite a nice lady only if you assume that everyone is nice by default until proven to be a tool.

    She really hasn’t done anything.

  15. vince says:

hey guys, where can you download the episodes? i’ve got episodes 1-6.. but i’m yet to find episode 7. episode 7 has already aired.. please tell me where i can find it.. i download my gundam episodes in torrentman.com. but the earliest that i can download them are two days after beeing aired.. please do tell.. thanks!!

  16. manga says:

Kinda intresting episode. Giving me more reason to feel that Setsuna is the emo-kid of G00 and what´s worse, he´s even more emo than Shinn was in Destiny :(

Boring episode even though it consisted of fighting. And terrorist? Nah, if my guess is right then it´s more likely mercenary acts…

Hopefully the next ep will bring back something that makes the show worth watching.

  17. Moonface says:

    Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnn

  18. fUN says:

Well, te comparisons between Gundam 00 and Full Metal Panic continue, Setsuna and Sagara were both child terrorists in the middle east, and later fight their previous mentors. Also that blue light emitting from Exia is comparable to the Lambda Driver. Personally, Mithril seems like a much better private military organization than Celestial Being.

  19. Ryuko_Hikaru says:

I have yet to see a GOOD private military organisation.

  20. Dazzer says:

So far we’ve only seen some background of Setsuna, and Allelujah.
How about some Lockon and that annoying manwoman (maybe we’ll figure out what made him such a 24/7 bitch) ^^

  21. DarkMirage says:

I would like to go on the record and say that Nyoro~n Fansub had been copying my translations for episodes 5 and 6. They finally did episode 7 on their own, but the results are reminiscent of episode 3.

  22. Everlasting says:

I think Setsuna is starting to get on my nerves a bit. He appears to be apathetic to everyone around him, but lacks the maturity that he’s pretending to have. Teenage angst indeed.

  23. tj han says:

Darkmirage has been copied! Marina is good because she hasn’t exhibited any bad traits. That is how life works.

  24. IKnight says:

At least we’re beginning to see the agendas of each individual Gundam Meister a bit more clearly.

  25. Sol Falling says:

I thought episode 7 was okay. I mean, yeah, Setsuna’s an emo…uh, psycho? but it’s not as if Sunrise is making that out to be a good thing. I’ll find myself suitably amused seeing Setsuna do his emo thang as long as it remains congruent.

Like, it takes a certain kind of perspective to take an organization like Celestial Being seriously. Emo people are one group who might hold such a perspective. But then, the fact that the people who make up Celestial Being are all kinda nutty will certainly factor into the outcomes their actions generate.

I find it interesting that the only characterization of the meisters we have seen thus far has focused on their negative traits–as in, their unsympathetic traits. Nobody’s watching this show going “Celestial Being Whoo!”, ’cause we don’t know who to root for yet. That’s not by accident.

Anyway, I did find this episode amusing at the end. The idea that the show is basically saying “next week, we’ll show you how to deal with terrorism!” what with Setsuna’s determined way of saying it and the serious looks on all the Gundam Meisters faces is hilarious. I dunno how to word it, I just get the feeling that a lot of internet peoplez are gonna look like morons and a lot of other internet peoplez are gonna get amazingly pissed off.

  26. kpg says:

I thought those two images above are the scenes that will be in episode 8 : Indiscriminate Retaliation, and not in episode 7. So, that means you hardly did a review on the episode. Anyway, the episode wasn’t a bullshit to me. It was rather intersting .It features about Setsuna’s past and his real name is revealed (I think it is Soran), terrorists attacks and interesting battle scenes.

  27. kpg says:

Sorry, mistake in my 4th sentence. It was rather “interesting”.

  28. Gaofar says:

so out of curiosity, when will you guys start charging for 00’s subs? :D

  29. teroterosama says:

hmm i dont really like when they started to misinterpret jihad …. this kinda make fun of the muslim

  30. DarkMirage says:

kpg: I said I am not going to do a review of this episode. Please read. If you found it interesting, then I guess this was for you. Go write your own review.

teroterosama: Right. So you are fine with them “misinterpreting” everything else. It’s okay to parody Venezuela. It’s okay to parody USA. It’s okay to parody European politicians. But once it’s Islam, you get your panties in a knot. Isn’t that somewhat hypocritical of you?

  31. NaoyaA says:

This may sound naive, but what makes me a bit anxious with the show is that the protagonists claiming their justice carry out mass murder of a few hundred (including ‘collateral damage’) in one operation and the show is still meant to be for children. Yes, it is an obvious political allegory (the protagonists/writers are explicitly asking us to think about it) and it’s a great aspect of Japanese animation that such a thing happens. Still, I watch it with a certain anxiety…

  32. gundamnut says:

I thought the episode was interesting as well. It was good to get a bit of background info on some of the characters. I enjoyed the mech fights…I was expecting a bit more than the very short but cool fight sequence between Ali and Setsuna. I would have loved to see more than that. But to me it appaears as if the show is just getting warmed up.

Setsuna reminds me a lot of Heero Yuy and how he was also over the top and pretty emotionally f**ked up. I didnt find this last episode bad or filler at all. I wonder why people think of it as filler. I would be curious to know.

That Tieria is totally dedicated to the mission and Celestial Being makes sense when you consider why him/her is a 24/7 bitch as someone pointed out so perfectly! lol

I wish there were some upgrades for Kyrios cause that is the coolest Gundam in that show!

I think this show is great so far. Entertaining and I love reading the comments and the screen captures and the captions that DM provides on this site. Keep it up! :)

  33. tereterosama says:

lol dont tell me the next episode gonna be like gundam wing …where heero meet relena but in this case setsuna meet marina and u know his favourite quote “I’ll kill you” …anyway anybody know how old is marina? if she’s old is it still be possible to be love interest for setsuna?

  34. darkdestiny says:

OK, I admit I was expecting episode reviews from this site (too much). Did realize that this is a fan-based Gundam site, but was really pissed off by some of the language. Gomenesai!

I don’t expect myself to literally predict what will happen.

  35. joh says:

Marina is 24 and Setsuna is 16, lol.

  36. Eh says:

I don’t know if I’d call PTSD “teenaged angst”. Emo is a silly label used for kids angsting about inconsequential things, whereas Setsuna is a child soldier who is a war veteran at the age of 16 and has had his belief system crushed at least twice (when he was indoctrinated to fight for God and when he came to the realization that there was no God who would help him).

At least with this episode you know that Setsuna’s purpose in life is to become a God that will stop wars and save lives, much like the Gundam 00 did for him when he was running around with an AK.

Of course, I could be totally wrong, but I like to think of the analysis of Setsuna seeing himself as a God tasked to prevent tragedies like what happened to him in a godless world.

  37. Athrun says:

Best episode so far imo, it’s good to see some actual plot for the first time instead of random conflicts.

  38. Martin says:

Geez… tieria is plainly cold blooded from as far as I can see…

  39. gundamnut says:

    I agree with Athrun.

  40. koushiro19 says:

    hmm wtf is this shit?
Yes, well-budgeted fighting scenes and teen angst. Thats pretty much GUNDAM. So…your point?

But for that matter setsuna appeared angry at ALI, but at least we got some insight about his role and past.

This episode was pretty good. For once we got to see some character development and conflict between the meisters.

And then we have an awesome potential villain like Ali, and a terrorist organization killing people to try to stop CB.

Also where do guys get that setsuna “WANTS to be god” wthat the hell guys…Death note is over.

He has made it clear that he believes there is no god, now trying to stop conflict does not make setsuna want to be god.

  41. darkdestiny says:

I’m not sure about the part that Setsuna wants to be God, but in my own opinion, he seems to think that he is a Gundam (at least once verbally), and Exia is his everything.

  42. KONIG says:

i need a link to download or watch episode 7 from Gundam00 -_-
i find only fucking stupid french subs

  43. KONIG says:

Setsuna!! IS SORAN! woohooo he is a kurd!
Soran is a kurdish name… iam a kurd myself :)

man this is awesome to watch now^^

  44. darkdestiny says:

Try looking for Mendoi-Conclave torrents. It’s where many got the english-subbed episodes from.

If you look deeper, there should be a lot more than what you find.

  45. ian says:

estan conmadre pero psss chingado me keede picado

  46. Cactuar says:

This post’s way too short, DM.
