FairLight RIP

FairLight has closed its doors! You case you don’t know, FairLight is THE biggest piracy group in the warez scene. All those DVD rips and ISO files with “FLT” in their name (example: Some.Thing.FLT.CD-1.cue) are cracked by FairLight.

The reason for it is probably this: Pitbull sentenced to 18 months jail.

Pitman was among more than 40 individuals targeted worldwide by Operation Buccaneer, a 14-month undercover investigation by a variety of law enforcement agencies. Other groups targeted were known as DrinkOrDie, RiSC, RiSCISO, Request To Send (RTS), ShadowRealm (SRM), We Love Warez (WLW), and POPZ.

Well I guess the FBI’s sources are pharked-up.
1. DrinkOrDie is basically DEAD! Even before this operation. Most of the members had already gone into hiding since the LAST Operation Buccaneer aka Operation WeAreStupid. Go look at any place where warez is available and you will see NO DoD release for at least a few years. In fact DoD was already VERY inactive during the last mass-arrest. They were well-known for cracking dos games……
2. Other than DrinkOrDie, all the other groups targetted were small fries. I have not even heard of POPZ and only seen one We Love Warez release before. Why didn’t FBI just target FairLight, Myth or Class…
3. FBI’s intelligence is wrong, Pitbull is not the LEADER of Razor1911. He is the second from the top.

FairLight’s last .nfo file

Releases usually (read: always) come with a .nfo file, which tells you what protection the program/movie/whatever had, a short description, which group won the race (yes, they compete to see who manages to crack a new game/movie/whatever) and installation instruction.

Now that FairLight is gone, all the smaller groups like DEViANCE, Razor1911, (ok so these two are not THAT small) and IMMERSION are going to compete for the top spot…so be prepared for rushed releases that take 50000 patches to work…
