SWEET MERCIFUL!

I am posting this from my computer running Mandrake Linux 9.1 with the KDE desktop. I have to say THIS IS A LOT BETTER THAN WINDOWS! And I will probably switch over completely and format my Windows drive if not for the fact that Linux does not have the game developers´ support. (it´s a vicious cycle you know, no one make games for Linux, nobody use Linux, nobody use Linux. No one makes game for Linux)

Anyway, other than having to partition your drive if you want to install both Linux and Windows on one harddisk. (I doný since I have 2 and can choose which one to boot from) The installation was WAAAAY too easy. Unlike Windows, where you have to install drivers for all your hardware before it will regconise them, Linux straight away detects all hardware during installation AND HAS ALL THE DRIVERS READY. (although the driver was outdated for my GeForce FX, I´m downloading the latest Linux version from Nvidia, so it shouldn be a problem) And Linux didn´t even need the networking program provided by SCV to use the LAN connection as an Internet connection. It automatically detected all networking cards and allowed to select whether those are LANs or Cable and then set up everything for me. (it did a good job too, since I´m posting this on my first boot)

OK, so it does have other itsy bitsy sucky areas, like having to use command prompt when I install FX drivers.

However, the browsers (Konqueror and Mozilla) that came with the OS suck A LOT! I´m downloading the Linux Opera now…(well, if there an Linux IE, I well use it…)
