*Atchoo*

Have been sneezing for the whole day…X_x Sigh, luckily the forced temperature-taking and qurantine is over…

Anyway, here’s an interesting read for those of you with a lot of free time:
File-Sharing: It’s Music to Our Ears.
The site is part of EFF.org, the Electronic Frontier Foundation. For those out you infidels, (I kid, I kid) EFF is the defender of technology. When bills were being considered to restrict game companies’ freedom, it was EFF who prepared the defence and won the many cases. When the governments try to censor the internet, it was EFF who started the initiative to stop these madness. And now P2P is being threatened by RIAA, who is actively pursuing Congress on passing anti-sharing laws, it will be EFF who overthrows them. The most recent example: Security Act (ACCOPS, HR 2752) According to this bill currently being considered by the Congress, “You could spend up to five years in prison, pay a $250,000 fine and lose your right to vote for trading a *single* copyrighted song”. Now if this kind of thing is allowed in America, the land of freedom, I’d think that it will be no better than the “oppressed Iraq”. 60 million people share files in America ALONE, more than the number of people who voted for Bush. If the world really wants to put a stop to file-sharing, I believe the only way is to LEGALISE it. By setting up a P2P system where the artists allow others to download music while receiving money through either monthly membership, advertisements or per download, it actually BENEFITS the artists by cutting out the middleman. The recording companies that cut a huge share of the profit from the artists.

Wow, better stop before this turn into a full-blown rant…
