ZzZZzzz… Taiwan straits is heating up again… CNN.

HONG KONG, China (CNN) — For the first time since 2000, Beijing has threatened to use force against Taiwan should the island’s pro-independence movement continue to escalate.

In a tough statement, the Vice-Minister at Beijing’s Taiwan Affairs Office Wang Zaixi said Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian’s recent pro-separatist activities had crossed Beijing’s “red line” and that they “run the risk of triggering a war” with the mainland.

Hohoho… one more thing for George Bush to worry about.

US warship visits Vietnam. CNN.

CNN’s Mike Chinoy who is in Ho Chi Minh City says Vietnamese who fought on either side of the war, as well as those born after the conflict, have given universal support to ship’s visit and the gesture of goodwill on the part of the U.S.

RIGHT… I’m sure none of the former Vietcong members are feeling uneasy or even hostile right now.

According to tech watch here.

Singapore passes legislation to monitor all computer activities in the city-state.

Apparently there’s a video, but it isn’t loading for me. ZDNet has more elaborations here.

Critics said the legislation echoed Singapore’s Internal Security Act, which is a Draconian law written by the island’s former British colonial rulers that allows for detention without trial and was used to halt communism in Singapore in the 1950s.

ISA for the Internet?!?!? Who WOULDN’T want that?!?!?

Ultra-strict Singapore has passed some of the world’s toughest laws against computer hackers and virus writers, allowing police to arrest suspects before they strike, official documents show.

BEFORE they strike. Exactly what ISA does. What if I were to make a joke about hacking MoD? Is that sufficient evidence for them to arrest me? Judging by how the Internal Security Act was used, that will actually be enough… -.-‘
