Stupid Geforce FX TDR128… Stupid TV-Out. The little abnoxious card is rejecting the cable that CAME with it in the fricking box. Maybe there’s some magical way of plugging it that I do not know about. I tried plugging it in from ALL angles, the location of the socket holes and the location of the pins are the same; the size of the connector and the size of the socket is the same; I used the same cable and the same socket as indicated in the fricking manual. IT JUST WON’T GO IT.

Maybe I should shutdown my computer and do this thing with the socket facing me… sigh, I hate interrupting my downloads.

UPDATE: Woohoo! Finally got it solved! Turns out my GeForce card was a bit loose. (a lot in fact, due to a flaw in the casing design, but the AGP connection itself is not affected because there’s another lock on the card itself) After installing the latest MSI Nvidia drivers and thinkering with it for sometime, (it wasn’t easy ok, they auto-detected my language settings and all the options were in Japanese) I finally got it to recongize my TV. (I had to go to the hardware store and get a new 2m IRCA cable for this)

Well now I can use the TV as a secondary monitor, but it’s quite useless for things like net surfing due to the extremely low resolution. (aka TV’s built-in anti-aliasing) I’m using it to view anime, winamp visualizer (which used to take up around 1/4 of my screen) and to display those wallpapers that clash with my windows theme. :P

My current desktop

The black areas are not part of the wallpaper, they are just empty spaces because I set the display resolution to be lower for the TV monitor. Also although I set it in the display setting for monitor 2 to be at the right of monitor 1, it is actually on its left. My printer is in the way, so I can’t place the TV there, but at the same time I don’t want my mouse to go off to another monitor when it hits the left edge of the main display. (the right side is ok since by default your mouse can already go slightly off screen there) So the result is kind of awkward, I move my mouse off the screen from the right but it appears on TV monitor on the left. lolz.

I should try and see how well games run on the TV monitor.

P.S. In case anyone is wondering, the girl on the left is Hoshino Ruri from Nadesico, the one in the middle is Akari from Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai and the right most girl is Hikari also from Konomini.
