The mystery has been solved:

Hi Darkmirage,

I’ve read your post on 13 Jun 2004 about the translation of Konomini’s OP.

For the line “hirari to mai odoru”, surely “hirai” by itself won’t make any sense here. But including the “to” after “hirari” i.e. “hirarito”, it means something like lightly, quickly or nimbly. “hirarito” is a mimetic word, usually used to describe some smooth, nice and clean movement. “hirarito maiodoru” can be used to describe the movement of a butterfly. (hope you get what I mean here.)

Cheers,
Almonster

P.S. Thank you very much for posting nice lyrics+ translations on your webpage.

Yes, it makes sense and google does give some results that support this. But can someone point me to a dictionary entry? I can’t find it!! >_< ;; On a slightly related note, type “metamorphose lyrics” into google. I’m the third result! (or second, depending on whether you count the sub-result) And it’s the first result for “konomini metamorphose”, “kono minikuku metamorphose”, “minikuku metamorphose” and all other variations for the title portion. Celebrations are in order! Well, not really. >_<
