Managed to get some work done today. Finished translating the first episode and the OP lyrics of Happy Lesson The Final OVA. The most difficult line to translate was probably

想いつつ、ぬればや人の見えつらん。夢と知りせば、さめざらましを。

The sentence is archaic and means, according to the explanation in plain Japanese, “Is it because I fell asleep thinking of my beloved that you appeared in my dreams? If only I had known that it was a dream, I wouldn’t have awakened.” Now obviously I can’t translate to that since it will then be exactly the same as its explanations. (Yeah… you guessed it. It’s a line from Mitsuki’s Japanese Literature class) In the end, someone suggested

Be it because I slumbered whilst thinking of my beloved that thou doth appear in my dreams? Had I known it was but a dream, I wouldst not have awakened.

It works pretty well, but I hate Shakespearean speak. Damn you literature! Other than that, the episode was pretty easy. Easier than Yumeria…

Couldn’t find the ED lyrics. Someone would have to transcript that by listening to it… x_x

Well… I said I managed to get “some” work done. Actually this was the only work I did today. Didn’t do any schoolwork at all. Tomorrow! I swear! I swear that I might do them tomorrow.

So anyway, just watched the raws of KURAU episode 3 and Marimite Haru episode 1. KURAU seems to be getting interesting again, but not by much. I do hope that it’s only 13 episodes since a 26-episode KURAU would probably be 50% Ghost-in-the-Shell-clone fillers. Marimite Haru was pretty good. Waiting for the subbed version to come out because I missed out on some dialouges. (too lazy to figure them out…)

And Samurai 7 episode 3 and 4 raws came out yesterday. Can’t be bothered to watch them raw. All that ye old Japanese talk is a pain to understand. Anyway, two episodes a month is quite slow, so the fansubbers have plenty of time to release them. But even a 13 episode series will take half a year… I’m guessing they need the buffer time to animate all the nice 3D effects?
