HiME

I’ll just use my entry for MegaTokyo’s community blog as today’s update… XD

My-HiME
Episode 01

Sunrise’s latest series isn’t about Gundams, but cute highschool girls with supernatural powers. AND a mecha canine. XD

Short Summary
Mai Tokiha has a strange mark on her chest and can see a red star in the sky that no one else can. She and her brother have just transfered to a new school, the Fuukagakuen. On the ferry heading to their new town, they meet Yuuichi Tate and his quasi-sister by chance when Mai saves an unconscious girl (Mikoto Minagi) from drowning. The girl carries a heavy-looking tsurugi (sword) and has the same mark on her arm as Mai. The plot thickens when the ferry is attacked by a speed cruiser and boarded by a mysterious person. (Natsuki Kuga) Mikoto wakes up and fight scenes ensue. At the end of it all, Mai is warned not to go to Fuukagakuen. (or face certain death)

Remarks
Too premature to judge since the first episode does not reveal much. What we do know is that all three girls have special powers and that it has something to do with Mai’s new school. The fight scenes are pretty well done, especially Mikoto’s haphazard swordplays. Action and cute girls, what more could you ask for. XD Definitely looking forward to the next episode. :P

The opening song is “Shining Days” by Minami Kuribayashi, who also sang the OP for Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. The ending song is “Kimi ga Sora datta” by Aki Misato.
