RIP

Oh great. I just destroyed my GeCube Radeon 9800 XT. The fan was obstructed/loose/slow/whatever and the heat build-up combined with a loose transistor KO’ed the card. (well the latter is my fault but not the former) I’m lucky to have stopped it before the GPU burns a hole through twelve floors of concrete below me. x_X! The card still works for desktop applications within Windows, but anything that uses DirectX and Direct3D becomes unusable. Artificing happens even when viewing video files, so don’t even ask about 3D rendering…

I’ve switched back to my Geforce FX5200 for now. Half-Life 2 has been done and forgotten so the downgrading doesn’t really affect anything… for now. And probably the near future since I’m not really doing any gaming nowadays. On the bright side, my monitor seems to like Nvidia cards more and I get my TV-Out back.

I’m soooo not getting anything from GeCube ever again. ~_~ Especially when it’s so cheap… Well, not like I have the money for it now anyway.
