やった

I met with Crest (one of the people wasting their lives away on irc.rizon.net) today at Kinokinuya. He’s a nice guy. Sort of. o_o (I kid… about which statement, though?) Anyway, he’s two years older than me (ain’t everyone?). We talked about anime and stuff over dinner and I passed him one of the posters from my Tokyo loot. Apparently he likes Evangelion too! (sort of rare among Singaporeans…) And no, I didn’t take pictures. D:

On a completely unrelated note:

I passed JLPT 2!!!… or rather, I would’ve passed it if I were at my current level in 2001. My results for the mock test. The question paper used was from 2001’s JLPT 2 examination.

Not surprisingly, after passing JLPT 3, vocabulary is now my weakest section. I lost 26 out of 100 for that section, compared to 30 out of 200 for grammar. Considering my range of vocabulary is only enough to read romance novels (and the high school variety common to most galgames too, which are not exactly bursting with literary greatness), the result’s actually pretty good I guess. For the grammar section, all questions up to 20 are reading comprehensions and it’s kind of surprising that most of my mistakes did not come from there… (btw xephyris, that question was indeed 4. Hurray!) Listening was cake (楽勝) as usual. XD My total score of 337/400 is significantly lower than my JLPT 3 results, but still quite a safe margin above the 240 passing mark.

Anyway, my teacher at Ikoma language centre is recommending me to transfer to the level 1 class… Not sure if I can handle that. ._. But I guess I could take the level 1 course and still take the level 2 paper at the end of the year, which would probably better prepare me for JLPT 1 next year (and if I pass that, I could probably throw my Japanese textbooks away forever…).

I don’t know whether to attribute this to Ikoma‘s teaching, or to my obession with anime, manga, J-pop lyrics and bishoujo games… Probably the latter, since I’m always falling asleep (or reading manga…) in class. x_X Meh, who needs two years of lessons when you have song lyrics. >_<
