Happy Fourth of July and don’t let the terrorists bite.
And in the traditional American spirit of celebration by blowing stuff up, NASA has blown up a coment:
PingXao writes “The JPL Deep Impact mission has successfully slammed a sattelite into Tempel 1 at 23,000 mph. (37,000 kph). The autonomous navigation system was primed for up to 3 course corrections in the final 2 hours of flight but only had to execute two of them. The second was so small – expending less than a pound of propellant – that impact would have occurred without it. Initially thought to be shaped like a pickle, it came to resemble more of a banana shape as comet Tempel I drew closer. Impact was estimated to have released 19 Gigajoules of energy, or the equivalent of 4.5 tons of TNT.”
Well actually they just blew up the impact device and made a hole on the surface of the comet. But hey, they still blew something up. (Well technically it didn’t blow up… but still it made a huge bang and flash)
All Americans, please be reminded to take care not to blow yourself, each other or other countries up. Terrorist wannabes are reminded not to blow themselves up either, because there really is no heaven and when you blow yourself to bits, those bits are all that will be left of you. Think of how much work you are placing on your fellow men to clean up all your bloody body parts and wax the floor.
All alien motherships are also reminded to take the time to update their anti-virus software before attempting an invasion. It can save you billions of your space dollars if you just pay a small solar-annual amount to upgrade that intergalatic-corporate license for your anti-virus software to an invasion-force-use license. P.S. As you can see below, Shia needed a place to vent off his fustration. It will probably be temporary (well, at most two years…).
