iPod phone (Motorola ROKR E1) revealed! After various mysterious annoucements that didn’t manage to fool anyone, they finally announced the official specs of the iPod phone (though the design itself had been leaked a long time ago…). The verdict: It looks nothing like an iPod, it can’t store enough songs and it’s just an ugly Motorola phone that happenes to support iTune.

Anyway, ROKR? RAZR? Where is Motorola getting these names from? Apple should’ve used the new Vodafone 803T by Toshiba for their iPod phone. It already looks like one. Damn I want it. T_T Maybe I should sell my 902SH…

And more importantly, Apple has annouced that the iPod mini will be discontinued and replace with the rumoured flash-based iPods. The surprise is that they are really tiny and they are called iPod nano. iPod nano features a colour screen (just as the rumours said) and it’s about as thick as a pencil and weights only 42g! ZOMG! However, what the rumours did not predict correctly is the cost. It’s 199 USD (current price for 4GB mini) for the 2GB model and 249 USD (current price for 6GB mini) for the 4GB model. On the bright side, it’s flash-based so you probably don’t have to take it to the service centre every four months. I’m biased towards flash storage because my iPod’s harddrive failed two months into using it. And I didn’t even drop it. Whereas my iRiver flash-based player still works perfectly after two years.
