Blood+

New season of anime is starting just as my EOY exams are closing. Curses.

Just watched episode one of Blood+. It certainly lives up to its name… The first two minutes take place in what seems to be a village somewhere in Indochina during the Vietnam War. A girl with a sword goes berserk and kills a bunch of villagers, American (kind of hard to tell when everyone speaks Japanese) soldiers and butt-ugly monsters. Fast forward to 2005, Okinawa, a high school girl name Saya Otonashi is living with her foster family near the Yokoda Airbase. Somehow she had lost all her memories older than one year. A conspiracy is brewing and it involves the US military (again, you can hardly tell if not for the stars and stripes), generic supernatural beast-like monsters and a guy who carries a cello around with him. You get the idea…

It seems interesting enough, but I’m not so sure about the 52-episode length… I’ll give it the benefit of doubt since it’s Production I.G. we are talking about.
