Spell

Just torrented Kimi ga Nozomu Eien episode 6. This time the storyline was NOT spoiled by some random forum post on MegaTokyo. (I’m looking at you, Orochi) As usual, the episode was really engrossing and when it ended, it felt more like 5 minutes have passed than 20… Maybe that has to do with the fact that after rushing through one season worth of storyline in the first 2 episodes, they finally slowed the series down.

On a related note, saw Tsukihime episode 5 yesterday. It is really a tat too slow for my taste. I REALLY don’t see how much storyline they can have for a 13-episode series at this turtle pace. That’s not saying I don’t like it though, it is quite nice, although supernatural/vampire is not my favourite genre of anime. (I didn’t like Hellsing, especially the lackluster ending. I’m also seriously considering whether to finish watching Witch Hunter Robin as the first 7 episode did not gain my interest)

Oh and I’m almost done with Kare Kano. I have to say that the producer’s low budget (WHERE DID ALL OF GAINAX’S EVANGELION BOOTY GO TO? Oohhh right~!~! The tax evasion scandal…) was evident later on in the series, especially episode 19. Imagine episode 25 and 26 of Evangelion, except that it happens all the time. (not just the animation, but the “talking to self” part) Still, the low quality animation rarely affects the humour. I really want the DVD version for this… Low quality background + video compression = looks like crap.

UPDATE: Hey, I just realized something! Kare Kano didn’t have any fan service at all! Wow, it’s waaaaay too weird coming from a GAINAX production. A company that produced official-licensed h-games to cash in on their milkcow. (*cough* eva *cough*) I mean, the only thing you can consider fan service is the “unf unf” scene in episode 18 and even THAT didn’t show anything at all. Maybe the animators don’t get paid enough to draw breast? Considering even FLCL managed to squeeze in fan service in 6 OVAs… Maybe they had a conscience attack and decided to keep Kare Kano clean… -.-‘ Hmm….

UPDATE 2: Noooooooozzz! Anime-Keep overtook Sugar-Cube and released Maburaho episode 4 EARLIER!!! Ok, I admit Sugar-Cube is a small and obscure fansub group, but it was the first to pick up Maburaho. The other main groups were too snobby or something and now that Maburaho actually gets from attention, Anime-Keep suddenly released episode 1 to 3 starting from last Saturday or Sunday and finally overtook Sugar-Cube today… I realize that Anime-Keep should produce better quality work, but still… From what I can see from Sugar-Cube’s torrents, Maburaho is the only thing they got going for them. Poor SC, RIP… Oh wellz, torrenting Anime-Keep’s episode 4… What? Don’t look at me like that… I can’t stand the temptation and wait for a SC release… Gaaaaaah…
