Retribution

I haven’t commented much about the Iraqi War, and I wasn’t planning to. But after all that Times, Newsweek, CNN and finally this, I felt like I have to do a bit of futile ranting.

This being a rant, I’ll throw away all illusions of objectiveness and get straight to my point: George Bush is an idiot. And the Americans are just as guilty of mental retardation to let an idiot run the country. Yes, I know they talk about less emphasis on academics in the land of freedom and justice and hope, but I certainly expect a minimum understanding of history. And these craps about terrorists’ being freedom-hating assholes, did those Americans who put Bush into power actually understood why terrorists do the things they do other than out of a simple hatred for this ambigious concept of freedom. Yes, I understand that thousands died in 9/11 and the events that followed. Yes, I understand that terrorists attack civilian targets.

But for what? Just because they like to kill people? Have you ever considered the fact that just hating American is a very stupid reason for giving up their lives?

The truth is, Americans are the one that caused 9/11. Since the end of World War 2, American has been diplomatically, an asshole. From spoiling her little child, Israel, to helping fund and provide training for guerillas in some faraway communist/anti-american/ state, to defending other countries from the big bad Soviet Union, the just US of A has always managed to explain everything as protection of the interests of it and its bunch of groupies.

Case in Point: The Soviet-Afghanistan War.
Middle East was really “friendly” to USA. Even now, relationships with Saudia Arabia, Jordan etc are strained at best. The cause, something I’ll be mentioning a lot, is simple: anti-semitic sentiments. America is the protector of Israel and everyone hates Israel. So by relation, everyone hates America. Now naturally America doesn’t really like the Middle East either, although not Afghanistan specifically. However there’s something that America hated more than them and that was the big bad Red Bear. Anyway, a coup brought Hafizullah Amin to power in 1979, overthrowing the old pro-Soviet government in Afghanistan. (which ironically, was installed via a precious coup) The Soviet Union is afraid that Amin will turn pro-West and anti-Communist, so they sent a whole damn lot of stuff over to forcefully take the damn place. After just 6 days of fighting, Soviet commandoes stormed the palace and killed Amin.

So a new puppet government is installed and all is well right? Well no. The international backburn was tremendous, especially after the Soviet Union had totally denied and criticized any reports of invasion just days before. The then US President, Jimmy Carter, did what all American presidents like to do: be a busybody. sanctions were placed, shipments were halted, etc etc. Most importantly: USA provided ammunitions and training for the anti-Communist Muslim Afghan guerrillas, also known as the mujahidin. Anyway, Afganistan turned into a Soviet version of Vietnam and they eventually withdrew in 1989 after suffering some heavy lost.

Now let’s analyze the story: What did America gain? Sure they might have indirectly contributed to the defeat of the Soviets, but so what? After the war, Afghanistan went back to the old middle eastern American-hating policy. In fact, something worse happened. Most of those so-called Afghanistan terrorists that the US is busy looking for today were the war heroes of the 1979 war, brought to power and respected by their followers for their bravery against the Soviet invaders. Did I mention the fact that these people used American weapons and had American trainings?

Next Point.

Hitting Iraq doesn’t solve any problems. I can understand the reason for wanting to tear Afghanistan apart, (it must hurt to find caches of their own weapons lying around the place) but what was the point of hitting Iraq again? Oh right. The WMD. That are kept 10km underground. In a secured complex that no one except Saddam Huessin knows about. I swear! Pffft. I’ll tell you what is the real reason for the Iraq War. Bush, despite his general idiocy, managed to gather up enough wits to formulate the perfect plan. By making use of the strong post-911 anti-terror sentiments amongst Americans and clever use of ambigious sentences implying the relationship of Saddam Huessin and terrorists, Bush successfully doped the general public into embarking on a quest to kick the butt of his daddy’s archenemy at the cost of 703 US Military and a few thousand Iraqi casualties. So Far.

And did the end result make the world any safer? NO! NONE WHATSOEVER! DEAR BUSH, YOU ARE A GENIUS. You might argue that a potential producer of WMD has been neutralized, (says the country with the world’s largest bio-weapon stockpile) and that terrorists have one less place to get money from, neither of which are valid points. The MORE important effect is one that is seen in many other cases in history: the vicious cycle of hatred. For every Iraqi you kill, his entire family grieves. His children will no doubt hate America for the rest of their lives. They grow up and what do you get?! MORE TERRORISTS. Similarly, for every US soldier that dies, his family grieves, the news network invites “expert opinions” to have tea and “terrorists” are hated more, which in turn provides people like Bush with more ammunition. Where have I heard this story before? OH RIGHT. ISRAEL AND THEIR SHITTY POLICIES TOWARDS PALESTINE.

In conclusion.
Iraq War = Dead Iraqi’s = More hatred = Dead Americans = More hatred = More Dead Iraqi’s = More Dead Americans = More Hatred ad infinity
Therefore Iraq War != Safer World
and Bush = Idiot

I could continue and talk non-stop, but my brain hurts right now. That’s all for today’s rant.
