IDS!

I’m really, really tired. New school term starts on Monday too. Argh.

Anyway, I’ve just received my first letter from IDS! (Idling Stop!, Maaya Sakamoto’s official fanclub). It comes with a transparent membership card and a key that you can either use as a simple keychain or get a keysmith to reshape it into your house/whatever key.

And of course a welcoming letter:

　このたびは、「アイドリングストップ！」（私たちはいつも略して「IDS!」と呼んでいます。」に参加してくださって、どうもありがとうございます。わたくし坂本真綾とIDS！スタッフ一同は、心よりあなたを歓迎します！
　いつも私のことをごヒイキにしてくださっている皆さんと、もっとお近づきになるために。そして一緒に何か楽しいことをするために、このファンクラブを作りました。会報は毎号大切に作っていますし、グッズも私自身が納得いくまでデザインにこだわったものばかりです。きっとあなたにも気に入ってもらえると想います。他にも色々な企画を練っているところなので楽しみしていてくださいね。
　　
　ところでどうしてこのファンクラブに「アイドリングストップ！」という名前をつけたかといいますと。
　日ごろから気にはなっている”環境問題”。紙のムダ使いってしちゃいけないんだよなぁ、電気ってこまめに消した方がいいんだよなぁ、リサイクルって面倒だけどやった方がいいんだよねぇ、ということは誰でもわかっている。が、手ごたえがなかなか感じられないので「無意味かも」とつい努力を怠りがちですよね。でももしこの地味な努力をしている人100人いたら、ちょっとは効果があるのかも。２００人だったら、結構いいかも。５００人なら・・・？そう考えると心強い。
　坂本真綾というたったひとりの人間のまわりに、こんなにたくさんの人が集まってきてくれました。みんなが持ち寄った「楽しみたい！」という、この幸せな感じのするエネルギーを、せっかくだからこの場だけで終わらせず、何か良い形で循環させたい。そう思ったのです。
　というわけで、封筒等に再生紙を使用したり、会報にゴミ拾いのコーナーがあったり、エコを意識したグッズがあったりします。自分ひとりの力では途方にくれるようなことも、みんなで頑張ってると思えれば支えられると思うので、もしよかったら一緒にどう？いつもより少し、地球に優しいことを心がけてみるというのは。本当にちょっとしたことだけど、チリも積もれば温度化も防げたりして。

　それではこれから始まるIDS!の世界をたっぷりご堪能くださいませ。また、ご意見ご感想いつでも大歓迎です。これからも更なる向上を目指して頑張りますので、末長くよろしくおねがいします。

Thank you for joining “IDLING STOP!” (We always call it “IDS!” for short). I, Maaya Sakamoto, and the staff of IDS! welcome you with our hearts!
I created this fanclub in order to become closer to those of you who have always been supportive of me, and so that we can have some fun together. I make each issue of the newsletter with care and I fuss over the design of every piece of merchandize to ensure that it’s something I personally like. Hopefully you will like them too. I’m finalizing various other projects right now, so please look forward to them.

By the way, you must be wondering why I named this fanclub “IDLING STOP!”.
I’ve always been concerned about “environmental problems”. Wasting paper is bad, we should always remember to switch off the lights, recycling is troublesome but it’s better to do it. Everyone knows these, but when people don’t really feel the effects, people tend to think “This seems useless” and stop putting in any effort. But if 100 people were to put in some simple effort, there might be some effects. If there were 200 people, the effect might be good. And if there were 500 people…? It feels heartening to think this way.
So many people have gathered around a single person known as Maaya Sakamoto. “Let’s have some fun!”, this happy energy brought us together. Since we are all here already, what if we were to channel the energy into something meaningful. That’s what I thought when I named this club..
And that is why the envelopes were made from recycled paper, the newsletter has a corner about picking up garbage and there are some eco-awareness merchandizes. If everyone tries hard, we can reach the goal that the effort of one person cannot, so I thought that perhaps we could do it together? All we have to do is to be a bit more aware of our earth and treat it more kindly than usual. It’s just a tiny bit of effort, but if we put them all together, we can prevent things like global warming.

Please enjoy the world of IDS! that will begin for you starting from now. Any opinions or thoughts are always welcomed. I will continue to try my best to improve myself, so please support me always.
