Kill Penguins

I just wasted a significant portion of my life because of Linux. SimpleMEPIS refused to boot on my system because of some stupid conflicts with having too many hard drives or something. Messed around with the BIOS a bit and my computer went dead. Couldn’t even get to the BIOS config screen. Tried unplugging some stuff. Didn’t work. Tried unplugging a different combination of stuff. Didn’t work. Tried again and again. Nothing. Went to sleep. Resumed this morning. Tried again and finally hit on the combination that lets me back into BIOS menu again. Quickly changed my settings back to what they were. Windows XP came back, but still couldn’t boot Linux because of stupid IRQ errors. Went to BIOS and changed something in my IDE configs from Legacy to Native… and MEPIS booted! ZOMG! But whatever the mode I changed was, I couldn’t boot into Windows in it. Probably because two of my hard drives disappeared from the BIOS display once I selected that mode. Beh, worry about that later I said. Installed MEPIS and rebooted from hard drive. Hurray! It worked! Configured the Nvidia drivers… which seems to later the ability to give my monitors differing resolutions, so I have to keep both of them at 1024. Then I tried accessing the net… and OH CRAP MY NETWORK CARD ISN’T EVEN DETECTED!!!!! ZOMG! *tears hair* Tweedled with the settings for a while and still nothing. Could it be because it’s an integrated Realtek card? Oh whatever. Rebooted, changed the BIOS setting back and thank god Windows is still working…

Linux is still as much a pain as ever… Although I do like the fact that MEPIS supports NTFS drives. I seem to recall that I didn’t have access to my other drives when I used Mandrake back when it was still Mandrake… If only it recognized my network card… Argh.

On another note, I just bought a new 300gb HDD. On my way to one terabyte~!

Now I have to finish my homework that was supposed to be done over the weekends and revise for Japanese test tomorrow and Biology and Math test on Wednesday and and… asfasksgdfh……
