Haven’t blogged since Saturday…
Oh man… Gundam SEED DESTINY 50 was pretty horrible… _| ̄|O
Bah…
Feel so lethargic…
Sigh…
Exams coming soon…

…Business as usual.
Time for a little rant to cheer myself up.

Anyway, annual prefectorial election campaigning is taking place at my school now. The nominees are pasting posters all over the school. 99.9% of those posters don’t actually tell you nuts about the candidate’s credentials and abilities and 110% of them contain at least one pun so corny that it sends chills down your spine and makes you want to stab your eyes out with a pair of blunt wooden chopsticks covered with splinters. Coincidentally, suicide rate has gone up recently.

Now, I’m not exactly an environmentalist nor do I hug or engage in any forms of intimate contact with trees, but even I think that this is one huge goddamn waste of perfectly good paper. Even more than those worksheets we do during Chinese lessons. There’s a difference between enjoying yourself in an air-conditioned room and printing a few hundred posters that do absolutely nothing except to make the school uglier while they are there and leave a bunch of blue tack marks when they are removed or torn down eventually. I do not believe those candidates who claim that they will recycle their posters. Hell, they pasted so many of those posters (frequently multiple times on the same wall), that I doubt any of them can even remember the locations to retrieve them from. And that is assuming if someone hadn’t already torn them down and littered the floor with it.

Now assuming that some guy does manage to collect back all his posters and he really, really recycles them (HAHaHa oh man, my stomach hurts from laughing), that would be great. But really, why go through the trouble of printing those posters, pasting a few gazillion copies on every flat surface you can reach and then taking even more time to retrieve them so that you can “recycle” them? Just because something can be recycled doesn’t mean that you have to waste it in the first place! Nearly all of the nominees will get voted in anyway (I don’t even know why we have this “election”) and it certainly isn’t because they managed to cover the school with bad jokes. Personally for me, posters do not affect my votes at all, not in the intended manner at least. In fact, I will not vote for any candidates whose names I can only remember from some nonsensical poster. Am I supposed to vote for them because they can make some words rhyme with their names or somehow incorporate the latest in a line of bad cliches into their campaign slogan? (The next person to have $34.50 in his campaign speech, I’ll… *makes violent hand gestures*)

Having more posters doesn’t mean getting more votes. Think of those trees being cut down by underpaid Brazilian labourers before printing that “poster” you just made in Microsoft Word.

These guys are pasting posters all over the school because they are afraid of losing out in numbers to the others. Frankly, I think the school should designate a few boards/walls for the purpose of campaign posters and limit each candidate to one poster each. I do not want to see my school’s walls covered top to bottom with pieces of dead trees.
