Singaporean Maid Cafe opening soon

It seems that all the excitement has died down and everyone has forgotten about that maid cafe which was supposed to have opened at Far East Shopping Centre last month. Some people (me being one of them) had already filed it away under urban legend.

Maid
Caution: Maid depicted may differ from real-life

But apparently, according to this forum post on SGCafe (a local anime and cosplay community site), Cosafe Maid Cafe will be open on the 12th this month (next Tuesday). It’s located at 30 Victoria Street #01-11 CHIJMES, which is within walking distance of otaku and fujoshi’s favourite gathering spot in Singapore.

So… uh. Yay!(?)

And I thought it was gonna be at Far East Plaza. Oh, well.

I expect to be either called goshujin-sama or onii-chan when I enter XD

  2. kwok says:

There is a maid agency at our gathering spot which replaced the former AZ Comics location. Its name?

    Superservants.

  3. Orochi says:

I shudder at what kind of girls they will employ as waitress….

  4. Chicken says:

ahhh very near my house if i need to see one i can go anytime.

  5. Chicken says:

@kwok : will we see indonesians and pinoys ?

  6. TP says:

I’m still keeping up with the news of the coscafe, contrary to your statement.

There are two great advantages of setting it up at CHIJMES:

    1. CHIJMES is targeted at upper-class and expatriate clientèle, so all the “ah peks” (Int’l English: local perverted old men) are “socially pressured” to stay away from such high-class locales.

    2. CHIJMES is located on what I call it “bohemian” area (I lol’ed at this concept given Singapore’s still-strict controls), and near SMU. Given that the Government has gazetted the area to allow budding entrepreneurs to set up businesses here, it gives the owners of the coscafe an opportunity to test their business idea.

Stupidly, I never liked business. Otherwise I’d have signed up with SMU instead of engineering-intensive courses, and I’d spent my free time browsing through manga & mechas at Sunshine Plaza, drop by the NLB for some reading, and eat roti john at the coffee shop near NAFA.

    CHIJMES lol. Hello expensive rental!

  8. bj0rN`- says:

Oh yeah~ I saw the job notice on hiring the maids a few weeks back or so and it was this particular one. I suppose no maid cafe in Far East then?

  9. AK says:

Ah, excellent, I’ve heard about this one too. Who’s going with me this coming Tuesday? E-mail me at endorxdkang@hotmail.com

  10. LianYL says:

CHIJMES of all places, but it might appeal to non-otakus who pass by. “Hey look! Interesting café at CHIJMES with Victorian maids!” Okay nevermind. I might patronise once for the novelty but no more than that.

On second thought, the money is better spent on 2D girls than on 3D ones.

  11. Beowulf says:

Are hot girls actually going to do this.

  12. Tsubaki says:

This destroys CHIJMES image as an chic place.

  13. Zer0 says:

CHIJMES is close enough to the Otaku gathering places – Bugis + City Hall. It’s only a tad far from Chinatown

  14. rdrake says:

Down for the count so long as I’m in Osaka. Won’t be going down to looksee anytime soon…

But come on, why the heck is it at CHIJMES of all places…come on, didn’t that place use to be a school or something?

  15. exalt dragon says:

    CHIJMES—

  16. exalt dragon says:

    lol…message got cut off

CHIJMES—>Convant of the Infant Holy Jesus….deshou?

So that means they are having a maid cafe/coscafe in a convant/ex-convant? The irony of it all, the irony…Seishoujo Ryouiki anyone?

Anyhow, I like the idea..planning to visit with my friends soon..

  17. Chicken says:

how much will a drink cost ?? 15$?

  18. Crest says:

    Cannot fathom the hype

it helps their image but on the other hand spoils the image of CHIJMES … lol

  21. AK says:

If you guys ever notice that your messages looks as though it’s cut off (I noticed my E-mail added text had been linked), it’s cos Dark’s edited them. So watch your words.

Yay! I’m all set to visit this Wednesday! And I’m going alone!

  22. DarkMirage says:

…Wordpress links your e-mail and URLs automatically.

Your message gets cut off if you try to type >_< without using > and < because > and < triggers the XHTML parser and does weird things if they aren’t actually part of XHTML tags.

  23. elohir says:

Hope theyre up to par with the japanese meidos. And they`d better not be like so `diao` when working.

  24. AK says:

Just visited it for the first time yesterday afternoon, during my work break (I work at Dhoby Ghaut station, it hapens to be nearby, I find I can easily drop by there every afternoon during lunch breaks). Pretty small, hardly any customers when I was there, looked as though an old farty woman ran the place, but nevertheless, the uniforms made up for most of it.

Am going again this Thursday. Kwee.

  25. Laurant says:

Lol..thanks for all your comments ^^

Well..nothing much i can express but…just that our management really rushed things abit…and I apologise greatly on that part.
I designed that place but things didnt get to flourish fully thanks to red tape coming from the people with the financial input…

I will be reforming the system of the place soon to suit what we originally planned…

LOL…and as for CHIJMES…no we didnt spoil the image of CHIJMES..in fact we added more spirit to the near-dead place…Suntec management’s got really too much “elite” mindset stuck up somewhere…because the businesses there arent doing well anymore…

Chic? hardly…after owning that area…its more like that place is only for ppls who just want a hard drink…and I suppose the ambience isnt that great either to come to think of it…Ambience isnt nearly what the surrounding can give, but what the Store can give..

And no…its not a convent anymore. Maybe it was…like 100 years ago? lolx
It is a place that houses : cafe. bar. restaurants.
    Need I say more?

And yes, I am one of the owners of that place. Though sadly I have rather lost abit of hope as to what was really promising…thanks to my partners’ serious lack of judgement.
