Singapore Anime Bloggers Gathering

Or “a bunch of nerds playing Counter-Strike” as tj han would put it. Apparently, I have been included in this otaku gathering that is pushing the limits of Singapore’s unlawful assembly laws but I’m sure the authorities will understand.

Gunslinger Girls

The location is Parklane Shopping Mall just opposite Sunshine Plaza and near Dhoby Ghaut MRT. The time is this Saturday at 7.30pm. Currently, there are about twenty people attending. I doubt the cybercafes will have enough free slots to accommodate all of us but it will work out somehow.

So if you want to catch your favourite/most hated anime bloggers and get their autographs/stab them in the eyes with a blunt pencil, then come down on Saturday.

Also, as you may or may not know, my new school year started yesterday. New school! Woot! Just five metres to the right of my old school. Woot! Tj han and LianYL have no life and visited me in school today. You can look at the pictures and learn about my perfect bowling skillz in the latest entry on RIUVA.

Maybe we should post a message at sgcafe telling all anime fans to wear and carry all their haruhi merchandise in school someday. They will be told to dance the ED of our beloved haruhi anime at the school parade square. That way we can know more abt pple who share our love.

I hope i wont be mortified by the sight of FYGs doing the ED dance….

  7. XD says:

lol… that means you’ll be seeing my seniors in there too. :0

  8. tj han says:

There are anime lovers everywhere. I mean, look at DM. He doesn’t look like an anime lover in person. LOL.

Anyway, his OG mates didn’t know he was the legendary Darkmirage but when I mentioned it, they screamed and offered him roses.

  9. DarkMirage says:

    That never happened…

  10. Crest says:

Oh dear, oh dear, Paper, dont deny your squadrons of fangirls. They exist, waiting to pounce when the time is ripe. At least that possibility is better then…. fanboys yes? Or you have some skeletons rattling in the closet?

  15. anon says:

BTW, despite being a tiny country, can someone explain to me why about 90% of anime bloggers are Singaporean? o_O
Is anime actually ‘mainstream’ over there or something?

The ’20’ figure is a blatant lie. I fully expect approximately 51873 people to turn up to this thing.

  16. Tiny Red Man says:

anon: imagine all people around the globe now booking airplane tickets just to play CS wif those guys…for those first time coming to singapore, singapore is a hot and humid country. average temperature is around 25degrees all year round. and also bring an umbrella along as recently there’s a quite heavy amount of rain raining in singapore( must be that stupid korean singer, RAIN coming to sgp perform…that’s why raining..curse him.) and also: most of singapore’s cyber cafe can only hold up to a maximum of 200 ppl..so if 51873 ppl are coming, That lucky cyber cafe is gonna earn BIG BUCKs!

  17. DarkMirage says:

anon: Actually the percentage of anime fans in Singapore is probably normal for an East Asian country with high internet penetration, especially one with a Chinese majority population. Anime and manga spread through Asia almost as fast as they grew in Japan.

It’s just that the fans and bloggers in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland China write and blog in Chinese, so Singapore sticks out more in the English-speaking communities.

  18. Gatekeeper says:

*jealous* Man, I’ve been reading you for some time now, you’re definitely my favourite anime blogger as you always talk about stuff relevant to my interests. I wish I could come to SG to meet you!

  19. Tsubaki says:

  25. rdrake says:

Eh, see you there then. I’m not all that good though…

  26. MistaYoH says:

Wow, what a fun session that was. I hope i can join you guys next time again too.

It got bad in the end where it was all stuffy and all but oh wells, it’s $2 an hour…..

  27. Qubicfactor says:

1OBN FTW! Next time we meet who knows the batallion will be much larger…

  28. DarkMirage says:

    elohir: Aaron was my classmate.

  29. elohir says:

hontou?? Thats cool, if you see him, try to convert him over! He’s a little apprehensive about SHnY…saying that there are waaayy to many haruhiists for his liking.

  30. exalt dragon says:

welcome to the life of a JC student. P.s. it sucks.

was tj_han a tjc student? That would be interesting.

Pull your shorts lower, and stop blocking the freaking camera. Enjoy the limelight for haruhi’s sake. And I expect you do be doing some haruhiism promulgation at RJC.

Care to share your subject combination? Oh and why don’t you blog about your 3-days orientation (or however long it was/is).
