Japan Manga, Anime & Games Tour

Time to take a break from all the gloom and doom. Here’s a more cheerful news brought to you by Mr. Lim, a former teacher of mine. He’s a bona fide gaming enthusiast and frequently takes random trips to Japan for no particular reason other than spending money. He is also the only (former) teacher I know who owns a PS3 and an Xbox 360. After quitting his job at my former school last year, he has been busy organizing various events and what not.

JMAG Tour

Anyway, Mr. Lim is organizing a tour group to Japan…for the Tokyo Game Show! Basically it is a one-week otaku-centric tour package with geeky destinations that include:

The duration is from 18th to 23rd September 2007. The total cost of the tour, excluding airport tax, is S$1,600. You can find out more information from the website and this flyer.

For enquiries and bookings, please call 63983686 or e-mail icp@globaltravel.com.sg. You probably will not get any discount for mentioning my blog. LOL.

Wow,that’s some cool former teacher you have there.
I bet most people would wish for such teachers LOL

  2. LianYL says:

Your teacher found his niche, do tell me if he needs assistants for next year term break.

  3. Silverwolf X says:

OMG, I wanna go… but after forking out the money for the trip, I wouldn’t have enough cash left to buy merchandise… sob… the curse of freelancing.

Ah well, there’s always NEXT YEAR!!!!

  4. 0rion says:

Wow, that’s actually not a half bad deal!

Sounds like he’s got a good thing going there. I hope it works out well for him. I’d love to be able to organize tour events and take people around Japan like that. :D

My uncle told me about this travel package for North Americans at jalpak dot com, which is a 5 day package to visit the TGS, comes to like US$850 before airfare and includes everything else.

What’s amusing is that it looks like someone like your teacher could be working as a guide for the same tour company. LOL. There’s a similar set of itinerary posted on that site and even the price seems the same.

  8. loksun says:

OMG, I wish I knew about this earlier but I’m now committed to go for a trip to Beijing in Oct and getting leave in Sept is not possible now. =(

Maybe he’ll organize one next year? :)

  9. Yoshi says:

Why not drop by Tokyo Big Sight as well?

Might not have anything anime-related during that period, but it’s between Makuhari Messe and Tokyo, and you can say you’ve been to the holy site for Comiket and TAF. :)

  10. Kesenaitsumi says:

lol….some teacher really does play games and watch anime!!

Hard to think how he really look like…maybe disgusting enough like onizuka ,GTO…..(kidding.^.^)

  11. Beowulf Lee says:

Well, it’s certainly less than my high school’s senior Disney trip to Florida… and longer too… OTL

  12. Kurogane says:

    What’s the catch?

  13. 0rion says:

    @Kesenaitsumi

Or maybe Kimura-sensei from Azumanga Daioh.

  14. Akiraman says:

Sounds like fun I wish the TGS was longer though theres lots to see there ^^ I was at TGS06 for the whole 3 days last year but did not have time to go to the other placed mentioned in the flyer. Still it was an enjoyable trip with my friend who was along with me. We did visit Akihabara though but not the maid cafes.

Sadly this year I am unable to attend TGS, If anyone from sg is going do tell me about the trip in your blog or Photo site.

  15. DarkMirage says:

Ops it seems like I was too late. Due to insufficient response, Mr. Lim had to cancel the trip. But he is interested in organizing one for end of the year (comiket?) or next year. Hopefully I will bring the news earlier next time. >_<

  16. Silverwolf X says:

    NEXT YEAR!!! Definately!!!

  17. Kesenaitsumi says:

    @ Orion

    Agree too ^.^

    Too bad it is canceled.

  18. AnimeFreak!!! says:

WOW GREAT idea but too bad even if i’m able to fork out 1.6k SGD I can’t really leave singapore cause of (male have to serve NS) sort of things… haiz~ (more like they worried that i’ll run from NS)

HAPPY B-DAY SINGAPORE (a bit late now but who cares)

  19. bummerout says:

That’s one cool plan your teacher’s got there!!
I’ll second what double said, if only we all had such teachers…

  20. hound297 says:

Next year! Maybe I should start saving now…

  21. Plaid_Knight says:

I’ll definitely start saving for next year.

  22. Pete Smith says:

We went with a British company on their Japan Manga Tour. It was cheaper than this and included a private visit to an anime studio – fantastic.
