Macross Frontier

Why does watching Macross Frontier bring a warm and fuzzy feeling to my heart? Perhaps it’s the draw of its wonderful soundtrack composed by Yoko Kanno, or is it the oscillating love triangle between Alto, Sheryl and Ranka? The storytelling is altogether compelling and the seamless blending of audio and visual effects bring highlight to every episode, each one an unique and exhilarating ride to satisfaction. It’s difficult to pinpoint just what Macross F has done right, but the use of music as a central plot device is without a doubt a vital part of its magic.
Macross Frontier looks set to be the show of the year. Go watch it if you haven’t. It’s simply deculture. (Zentradian for “unbelievable”.)
P.S. The primary motivation for this post is my sudden urge to fanboy over Sheryl after having watched episode 5. Sheryl <3

Macross Frontier is definitely worth watching for no other reason than the fact that it’s a really deculturely awesome mix of music, the pursuit of dreams, as well as fan baiting (uhhh actually this one is probably a bad thing).
Can’t wait for school work to stop murdering me so I can watch it in peace =_=

This series was cemented as fukken awesome in ep 4 when Ranka sang Watashi no Kare wa Pilot, set to the training battle. It was BEAUTIFUL.

no kidding, it actually match the battle for once (instead of some dramatic classical score that makes no sense at all)

I think its about time they came out with this and by the look of it I believe we got ourselves a winner.
Heres hoping that it goes past 13.

What if the Vajra are fighting a war to prevent their worlds from being colonised by the Earthlings?
May 10th, 2008 at 1:29 am
Are you trying to turn this into an ethical dilemma?
May 10th, 2008 at 2:44 am
I have a feeling the vajra react to music.

War is always an ethical dilemma.

Hmm, I do realise the hype around this series. I’ve never watched any previous Macross series, but I know this series is set after Macross 7.
Will I be missing out on any plotlines or events if I start watching Macross with this one? Or do I have to watch any of the previous Macross to fully understand what’s going on in the universe?
EDIT/ADD-ON/OFF-TOPIC:
Why is my gravatar some moe girl junk? >=(

Qad you may miss a bit like somethings the Zentraedi do and what not. Also what deculture is…and why music is a big deal…and also how they become Micronized etc but nothing wikipedia cant cure…:P
And now I am a girl in a nurse uniform lol

You don’t actually need to know any of that to enjoy the series. And they do drop some hints to the background story, so Wikipedia is not necessary either. In fact, it’s more fun to figure it out yourself.
Also, you can register a Gravatar if you don’t like the randomized one.

When Mikhail (supposed to be Michael) is acting like an ass, the fact that the VA is the same as Tieria’s becomes really obvious.

Hurray for more Macross. At this point, this new addition seems as if a good competitor to the original for top-spot in quality.

If you’re being really picky, there’s actually 26 episodes.
Episode 1 has two versions.
One was aired late last year (sometimes referred to as a “preview version” or “Deculture Edition” or “Macross Special Edition”)
A revised version that aired last month. (referred to as “broadcast version”)
The only major notable difference is the later version has certain battle scenes removed. (It doesn’t affect the story as a whole though).
Regardless, both versions can be acquired via P2P networks.
