Warden

World of Warcraft contains a EULA-endorsed spyware that scans your running programs every 15 seconds. The “warden client” checks the window name of every opened window and goes through all your e-mail, IM clients and browsers. If it finds anything that matches a list of hashes it has, it bans your ass. So you can get banned for having a window named the same as a cheat tool, even if it’s not one. Why does an anti-cheating tool need the e-mail addresses of your MSN contacts? Does it ban you if your contacts turn out to be cheaters?

A repeat of history?
