A fool and his money soon parted

Haruhi
Money please!

Money is the root of all evil. Therefore we should spend all our money. Besides Mahoro and Haruhi, here are some nice pieces of polymers that I am probably going to cough up blood for in the near future…

Mikuru

First we have Kaiyodo’s Mikuru. Standing at 23cm in her waitress uniform, Mikuru’s angelic smile can kill a fanboy in less than 4.32 seconds assuming you have not already been vaporized by the heat rays located in her innocent eyes. Forget nuclear weapons, Mikuru is a one-girl weapon of mass moé-fication.
Pro: Mi-Mi-Mikuru Beam!!!
Con: May result in accidental death.

Cost: ï¿¥4,725
Release: Dec 2006

Navel

Navel Characters Collection. Six chibi-fied girls from Shuffle!, Tick! Tack! and Soul Link. SAGE-CHAN FTW!!!
Pro: Has SAGE-CHAN!!!
Con: Has Kaede and Sayaka. No Nerine. Not enough SAGE-CHAN!!!

Cost: ï¿¥3,800 for 10 random
Release: Feb 2007

Ma-ryan-senpai

To Heart 2‘s 1/8 Ma-aryan-senpai (Drill Ma-ryan Kick Ver.) from Kotobukiya. I can’t stress enough just how cool and awesome this figure is. If you played TH2 on PC, then you would know what I mean. Seriously, you can’t miss this and still call yourself a TH2 fan. Moeyo has a pre-release review of it here.
Pro: Best. Pose. Ever.
Con: PVC may possibly bend out of shape more easily due to the pose.

Cost: ï¿¥4,410
Release: Feb 2007

Haruhi Figumate

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu Figumate from Konami. More chibi-fied cuteness. Take a look at the Negima Figumates to get an idea on how they will look like.
Pro: HARUHI! WITCH YUKI! RYOKO! TSURUYA! MIKURU! (everything)
Con: Witch Yuki and Waitress Mikuru are “rare”, which means I’m probably never getting them.

Cost: ï¿¥4,200 for 10 random (your first born for a rare)
Release: March 2007

Also, I need to seriously start to consider how to pay for the DVDs I preordered on Amazon JP. The temptation to preorder things is so great when you are not required to pay up until they are released…

Oh well.

    Only gave in on 2 of the 5 items… so yea. 3 MaxFac Haruhis and 1 Ma-aryan, both of which (as of now) should come out roughly at the same time. That’ll probably be it for figurines for me that month. I hope ^^;;

BTW, don’t feel much for the Mikuru, Navel, nor Haruhi figumate stuff. For Mikuru, something looks off on the face. Navel is cute but I’m cutting down on small gasha/TF figures if possible. Same reason for the Haruhi figumate plus I’ve rather use the money to get the eventual MaxFac Yuki and Mikuru figures.

Once you’re done with your o levels, go get a job.

  3. Pear says:

Nah he’s busy blogging on Government workstations while being paid by the Government to sit there all day.

I daresay he might actually do some work eventually, if he still remains sane after going multiply-bankrupt…

I love chibi figure collections, but i always get screwed on the random selection. I.e. 9 of the same least-favourite character, and 1 moderately cool one.

And i have no one to trade with T_T

    Just Haruhi for me.

I already want the Ma-aryan-senpai one and i’ve never even played, nor have intention to play, TH2…

  5. DrmChsr0 says:

DM: I’m still alive. Must be becasue I’m in this 100-ton Atlas Battlemech. I wouldn’t kill Mikuru, though.

I think I’m chipping in with friends to get the SHnY Figumate box. I get dibs on Asakura Ryoko.

  6. super rats says:

I’ve only ordered the Max Factory Haruhi.

I think the pose of the TH2 kicking girl is awesome, but the reason I’m not ordering it is because it’s a Kotobukiya figure. The finished product always looks much worse than the one in the promo shot — subpar paint and detail work often marred with excessive debris. The pose on this one is making me reconsider my no more Koto stance.

  7. anon says:

No one else getting http://www.hobbystock.jp/item/view/HBY-GCF-00000701 ?

Pre-ordered, come release time she will be looming over my FTG gashapon

  8. DarkMirage says:

    super rats:

Well, their recently-released ZnT Louise was great. And Moeyo has a pre-release review of the PVC version.

    It should be good.

  9. hotchanbot says:

Hey im getting Suzumiya figuremates preorder. Any deal here for trading later on??

  10. exalt dragon says:

    Hmmm…no Nerine, no go….

  11. [tCi] says:

I managed to reserve the MaxFactory Haruhi PVC (first shipment I hope) and the Mikuru PVC from HLJ (woot!). I’m undecided on wether I’m going to preorder the figuremates, but damn I sooo wanted the Hare Hare Swing keychain set… I couldn’t find it anywhere. The only reason I would get the Navel character thing would be for Asa-senpai, but spending money just for her is still a pain in the wallet. I can’t wait till Jan and Feb! (when the Mikuru and Haruhi figs come out [respectively])

  12. Kurogane says:

Thanks DM, you just made me RM250 poorer.

Anybody in Malaysia wants to order the Mikuru figurine? We can split shipping :P.

  13. TiRune says:

Anon, I already fell in love with the Kanon Kotobukiya figures so I’m getting them all… I too am afraid of my budget, Haruhi bunny series, Max factor series, Kanon series, Gashopon… omg -_-‘

At any rate, don’t get the Happinet Kanon figures, jumping of a skyscraper is a better idea really, they are way too ugly -_-‘

  14. Anonymous says:

I can’t wait until the Mikuru and Haruhi figures come out! If you get them DM, maybe you can take a picture?

  15. DarkMirage says:

lol, Kurogane, I was actually debating on whether to include to HLJ link for each item so as to facilitate the process, but I’m not that evil. :3 (Okay, I was really just lazy)

TiRune: Yeah, they really are ugly… =_= Gives bootleg Saber a run for its money.

  16. Crest says:

Sell your soul to raise some money, Dear Paper.

Or you can sell some of the stuff you do not wish to keep at knockdown rates D: D: D:

  17. I’ve really have learned a lot from your blog. Keep up the nice work.
